Overview
Here to Slay is a fast-paced card game where players assemble a party of heroes to defeat monsters while navigating sabotage from their opponents. The game offers two victory conditions: either slay three monsters or recruit all six hero classes into your party.

What’s in the Box

  • 115 Main Deck Cards
  • 6 Party Leader Cards
  • 15 Monster Cards
  • 6 Rules Reference Cards
  • 2 Dice

Setup
To set up Here to Slay, separate the different card types and shuffle the Main Deck, Party Leader Deck, and Monster Deck individually. Place the Main Deck in the center, reveal three monster cards face-up, and keep the remaining Monster Deck nearby. Each player starts with a Party Leader card and a rules reference card.

Gameplay
Players have 3 Action Points (AP) to spend each turn. Here’s how you can use your AP:

  • For 1 AP:
    • Draw a Main Deck card
    • Play a Hero, Item, or Magic card from your hand
    • Roll 2 dice to activate a hero’s ability
  • For 2 AP:
    • Attack a monster
  • For 3 AP:
    • Discard your entire hand and draw 5 new cards

A turn ends when a player has spent all their Action Points or chooses not to take further actions. The main goal is to slay three monsters or recruit one hero of each type (Fighter, Guardian, Ranger, Thief, Wizard, and Bard). With expansions like Berserkers & Necromancers or Warriors & Druids, players aim to collect six different hero types.

Our Experience
We discovered Here to Slay during a recent trip to New England, and it quickly became our favorite game of the week! The fast-paced, addictive gameplay is even more enjoyable with a larger group. Cards like Slippery Paws and Greedy Cheeks bring a humorous element to the game.

A standout feature is the modifier cards that allow players to enhance their own rolls or sabotage others. This unpredictability adds a strategic layer, keeping everyone on their toes.

Final Thoughts
Here to Slay is highly recommended for anyone seeking a quick, card-drafting adventure filled with laughter. Whether strategizing against monsters or reveling in the chaos, it guarantees fun for all players!
