Allplay Tiny Box Card Games
Recently, we we lucky enough to catch a sale at allplay and were able to pick up some of their tiny box games! These games are great to travel with, to stick in a purse or backpack, and to otherwise have something to do while on the go. Check out Fairy, Rainbow, and Slambo below!

Fairy
Designed by Mashiu and art by Sai Beppu
Fairy can play 2-10 players, ages 6+ and plays in about 5 minutes. In this luck-based game, you are trying to guess which cards will appear next. You reveal your guess by showing a hand signal on the count of 3. You can pick 1 of 4 guesses: Is the card higher, lower or the same suit as the previous card, or will you risk it to guess the next card contains a fairy for more points? Keep track of your score on a score card, where all players can track each other’s points. The game keeps going until the 3rd fairy is revealed or a player has at least 24 points. This quick, chaotic game will have you questioning if you can count cards as you try and guess your way to the top!

Rainbow
Designed by Mito Suzuki and art by Sai Beppu
Rainbow is designed for 3-6 players, ages 7+ and plays in about 10 minutes. Rainbow consists of 60 cards, ranks 1-6 (10 cards each). Rainbow is a trick taking game where you are trying to create a rainbow to collect the pot of gold at the end. It is played over a series of tricks. For each trick, players must play 1 combo of either a set, run, or single card from their hand. After a trick is played, it is scored with the person who played the biggest combo going first. Set up is quick and easy and only requires to shuffle and deal the cards out. Deal 1 card per player in a face up row in the middle of the playing area and deal the rest of the cards out evenly between the players. This game has a little bonus, as there is also a 2 player variant for it. Rainbow is perfect for the rainy Florida days we have here at Berry Plays Games!

Slambo
Designed by Ryan Richford and art by Sai Beppu
Slambo was created for 2-4 players, ages 6+ and plays in about 5 minutes. Another great quick-play choice! In Slambo you are trying to force you opponent(s) to go above a 10 or below a 0. If you manage to make that happen, you yell “Slambo”! Like the games mentioned above, this is a game made entirely out of cards. 1 Start card, 9 Shame cards, 17 Numbered cards, 6 Special cards and 4 player aids. Here at Berry Plays Games, we LOVE a good player aid card! Slambo is typically a 2 player game, but does have a 3 and 4 player variant included in the rules. The game is played in rounds. During a round, both players take turns playing 1 card at a time, on a pile in the middle, face up. The start card will always be the first card in the stack. Blue cards raise the numbers and red cards lower them. The game ends when 1 player has 3 or more shame cards.
These three games from allplay are beautifully illustrated and nicely compact. Each includes a one page rule sheet to explain the rules of the game and any variants of the game that may exist. I am happy to report that allplay continues to put out quality, affordable games that can be shared at the table!

Well-said! Short and sweet reviews just like these lil games themselves! Rainbow is so easy to pull out for the newer gamers. Not once have I taught it to a group that didn’t want to play it again! And it’s crazy hilarious with more experienced or super-competitive folks 😆
Which of the three do you think you’re most fond of??
Honestly, I think we had the most fun with Fairy. There were four adults playing and it just ended up with us all laughing so much! I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected too. I love it when a game surprises you like that! – Berry
